Personal data we process, why, and for how long

New Broom processes your personal data because you use our services and/or because you have provided this data yourself. You will never be added to the newsletter mailing list unless you have explicitly given your consent. ‘Consent’ means ticking a box on an (online or physical) registration form, handout form, or evaluation form.

At the end of this privacy statement you can see which data is stored for each action, for what purpose, and for how long.

Special and/or sensitive personal data we process

Our website and/or service does not intend to collect data about website visitors under the age of 16, unless they have the consent of a parent or guardian. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is over 16. We therefore advise parents to be involved in the online activities of their children, in order to prevent data being collected about children without parental consent.

If you believe that we have collected personal data about a minor without such consent, please contact us at karen@newbroom.nl and we will delete this information.

The purposes and legal basis for processing personal data

New Broom processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Processing your payment;
  • Sending our newsletter and/or marketing communications;
  • Being able to call or email you when necessary to carry out our services;
  • Informing you about changes to our services and products;
  • Delivering goods and services to you;
  • For case studies and personal development as a trainer and professional organiser;
  • New Broom analyses your behaviour on the website in order to improve it and to align the range of products and services with your preferences.

New Broom also processes personal data when legally required to do so, such as data needed for our tax returns.

Automated decision-making

New Broom does not make decisions based on automated processing that could have (significant) consequences for individuals. This refers to decisions made by computer programmes or systems without human involvement (such as a New Broom employee).

Sharing personal data with third parties

New Broom only shares your personal data with third parties if you have consented to this. Such a request will be made proactively by New Broom and will only follow if necessary for the execution of our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation.

Cookies, or similar technologies, that we use

New Broom uses functional, analytical, and tracking cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is stored in the browser of your computer, tablet, or smartphone upon your first visit to this website. New Broom uses cookies with a purely technical function. These ensure that the website works properly and that, for example, your preference settings are remembered. These cookies are also used to ensure the website functions well and can be optimised. In addition, we place cookies that track your browsing behaviour so that we can offer tailored content and advertisements.

Upon your first visit to our website, we have already informed you about these cookies and asked for your consent to place them.

You can opt out of cookies by setting your internet browser to no longer store cookies. You can also delete all previously stored information through your browser settings.

Viewing, modifying, or deleting your data

You have the right to view, correct, or delete your personal data. You also have the right to withdraw any consent you have given for data processing, or to object to the processing of your personal data by New Broom, and you have the right to data portability. This means you can submit a request for us to send the personal data we hold about you to you or another organisation of your choosing, in a computer file.

You can send a request for access, correction, deletion, data transfer, withdrawal of consent, or objection to the processing of your personal data to karen@newbroom.nl.

To ensure that the request for access has been made by you, we ask you to send a copy of your identity document along with the request. In this copy, please black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip of numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number, and Citizen Service Number (BSN). This is to protect your privacy. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, and within four weeks. New Broom also wishes to inform you that you have the right to file a complaint with the national supervisory authority, the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens), via this link.

How we secure personal data

New Broom takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorised modification. For example, I use the digital password vault LastPass, and my cloud storage has two-step verification. Reports of workplace visits or other documents can be sent in combination with a password, which is communicated via SMS or WhatsApp. This is done at the request of the recipient and is not standard practice. If you believe that your data is not adequately secured or if there are indications of misuse, please contact us at karen@newbroom.nl.
